Opening Ceremony of the New Building

Opening ceremony of the New Building of the Sri Lanka Institute of Textiles & Apparels (SLITA) was held on 6th September 2023 at the SLITA premises.

Dr,Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Plantation Industries and Minister of Industries graced the event as Chief Guest and declared the opening of the building. Honorable Minister also attended the Unveiling Ceremony of the reading man statue done by Senior lecturer R.M.U.Rathnayake students of SLITA.

Dr,Ramesh Pathirana ,Honorable Minister made the following remarks at the ceremony. He mentioned that upgrading facilities in SLITA is necessary to launch degree programs.

In addition to that Honorable Minister appreciated the SLITA facilitating to uplift the apparel industry in Sri Lanka . Honorable Minister requested the SLITA staff members, and members of the industry to work together to generate more income from apparel sector.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Industries, Mrs Thilaka Jayasundara highlighted the importance of maximum utilization of new building facilities. The additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries as well as chairperson of SLITA , Mrs. Nanadanie Samarawickrama welcomed the participants and vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Mahesh Kannangara Director Operations. Director Training Mr. S. Illangovan also participated Architect Sarath Fernando graced the ceremony.
