As Director General, my mandate and the mandate of this esteemed institution is clear: to cultivate a highly skilled, digitally empowered, and future-ready workforce capable of driving Sri Lanka's textile and apparel industry forward on the global stage. The textile and apparel sector is a vital cornerstone of the Sri Lankan economy. To meet the dynamic demands of the global market, we must continuously elevate our standards.
Recognizing the industry's shift toward smart manufacturing and advanced technology, we are actively integrating artificial intelligence and modern digital technologies across our campus infrastructure and curriculum. At SLITA, we do more than just impart traditional technical expertise; we shape visionary professionals equipped with the digital fluency, data-driven insights, integrity, and adaptability required to thrive in a rapidly transforming landscape.
Established under Parliament Act No. 12 of 2009 through the strategic amalgamation of the Textile Training & Services Centre (TT&SC) and the Clothing Industry Training Institute (CITI), SLITA stands as the premier educational and training powerhouse for our nation's most critical export sector. Operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, it is a profound privilege to lead this institution.
